This Week at the Track

The Nationals are in Abbotsford this weekend – good luck to all who are going, ride hard and bring home lots of "N" plates. For those not going, something will be planned at our track...check facebook for updates.

Work Parties & Grands Volunteers

During coaching this week and next bring your work gloves, rakes and covered shoes. Be prepared to kick in a bit of extra effort around the track to clean-up, spruce-up and shine-up our facility for those coming to visit next week...we'll need to:

  • Clean up garbage around the track and compound;
  • move debris from around the fire pit area;
  • clean behind and around the garbage bins;
  • cut grass & weed around the track;
  • and overall general track cleanup.

Anybody with an available truck to help deliver some items, please let the This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it know (there are two fridges and a few BBQ's to pick up for the Grands).

Next week we will focus on the actual track work and will also post the volunteer schedule for the weekend of the Grands. Please come and sign up for that – there will be a special surprise for all who volunteer.

Picture Day

Thursday, September 6th, Barney Brown will be at the track for individual rider and group portraits (order forms will be available, but be prepared to pay this night also).

More Reality TV

Friday, September 7th, Phoenix from Shaw TV will be coming to host a broadcast from our club, 10:30am to Noon – everyone is welcome to attend.

Later That Same Day...

THE GRANDS BEGIN, if you've never been to a big race...your eyes will be opened. It's a fun time with lots of people from all over Alberta and a chance to make some new friends or reacquaint with old ones.

Then What?

After the Grands our season is not over, we will continue with our coaching programs, open tracks and maybe even some racing.

Here are some other dates to mark on your calendars:

Sunday Sept 23rd we will hold our AGM at the Blackfoot inn – details and agenda will be posted shortly. We'll need a good attendance at this as we need a quorum or we'll have to reschedule. This is a good place to ask questions and get to know how the club operates. There will be cookies for those that can be enticed with a bribe.

Sunday Sept 30th our ANNUAL WIND-UP PARTY will be held at the Trico Center. We will have a two-hour pool party, dinner, rider awards (trophies and other cool stuff) and general fun. I think for this one we could probably even convince Mama Frew to bring some of her famous cookies that always gets the riders off the ground and riding again. Again, more details will follow and there will be a small fee to help offset the costs of this event.

Sadly, our season is coming to a close, it amazes us how quickly summer is gone – it's time to put the bikes away and bring out the skates, volleyballs or basketballs...but, only for a month or two until the indoor season starts up in Olds.
